Hi everybody, Kielan Ellis here - co-writer and director of an upcoming feature of ours: Spanish Leather. Starring my two co-writers, Ben Jeffries as Ken Harper, and McKenna Grantier as Emma Law. The film is loosely based on a memoir written by Kenneth Branagh - Beginnings - and partially based on William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, which is my favourite of his. I'll be writing some longer-form updates about production on this film, as well as others, as we go along.

Happily we can announce that we have attached to the project Mr. Adam Nayman, a Toronto based professor and film critic, and Chris Cuthbert, the voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs. We're in a bit of a stall at the moment in pre, as we wait for the fiscal year to properly start and all the different funding bodies to start accepting applications. Once things are more open, the hard work will really kick off. At the moment we're aiming for an October 2025 production date, which means the nitty-gritty of pre-production will likely kick in around this coming fall.

I'll be sure to come back and update our progress as we go. I'll also mention, we have another potential project on the docket - a feature set in a sports radio station, following several people in an anthology of stories, set around the various playoff runs the Leafs have gone on over the past decade. There are a few other projects directed and written by friends of the studio that we may be able to share through our distribution side. And in other news, 512RED is taking its first steps towards incorporating, and will soon be a licensed company here in Ontario.
